sk and Insurance Management Society and International Risk Management Institute Inc. (IRMI) have partnered to offer the Management Liability Insurance Specialist (MLIS) program, a series of online educational courses. The program is divided into two parts. Part one includes three basic- to intermediate-level courses that cover the fundamentals of professional, errors and omissions (E&O), and directors and officers (D&O) liability insurance. Part two comprises four courses that focus on the specific nuances of D&O liability, employment practices liability (EPL) and fiduciary liability exposures and insurance. Participants can enroll in the online courses at any time and take the exams at their convenience, the companies say. "Since standard D&O, E&O, EPL and other professional liability policy forms are not used in the marketplace, there is considerable variation from one insurer's policy forms to another's, making these perhaps the most complex lines of insurance and prone to embarrassing – and costly – coverage gaps," says Jack P. Gibson, IRMI president. After completing the seven courses, participants receive the MLIS certification, which is valid for 24 months. Thereafter, participants must complete three hours of approved continuing education credits on an annual basis to maintain the certification. SOURCES: RIM
