Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum has appealed last week's ruling by Circuit Judge Jack Cox outlining that McCollum's office could not investigate law firm Shapiro & Fishman for the firm's alleged involvement in presenting fabricated documents to the courts in foreclosure actions.

McCollum is currently investigating four law firms: Shapiro & Fishman, The Law Offices of Marshall C. Watson PA, the Law Offices of David J. Stern PA and Florida Default Law Group PL.

Gerald Richman, a partner with Richman Greer PA who is legal counsel for Shapiro & Fishman, called McCollum's motion for rehearing ‘a sad example of the attorney general's office's continual fishing expedition.’

Richman says Shapiro & Fishman is willing to voluntarily cooperate with McCollum's office to address ‘any legitimate complaints.’
