Freedom Mortgage Corp. Expands Into Commercial Real Estate Lending

Freedom Mortgage Corp., a privately held mortgage lender of VA, FHA and conventional loans headquartered in Mount Laurel, N.J., has launched a commercial real estate lending division.

The company's new commercial real estate lending division will be based in New York and managed by industry veterans Mary Davenport, Nichole Kim and Shawn Townsend. Initially, they will focus on first mortgage originations from $2 million to $10 million, according to a release.

Davenport joins Freedom Mortgage after three years with RBS Securities. Prior to that, she served as partner and portfolio manager for Vertical Capital.

Kim comes to Freedom after three years at Rialto Capital. Her background includes working as an originator for Nomura and CSFB. In addition, she purchased CMBS and REIT securities for TIAA-CREF.

Townsend most recently worked as managing partner at Velocity Advisors. Prior to that, he was head of capital markets at Gramercy Capital. He also worked at Nomura, JP Morgan and Oasis Real Estate Partners.
