e Mac has chosen Milwaukee to test a two-pronged media campaign assisting those seeking to buy a new home and helping existing homeowners facing foreclosure. According to a report in the [link=http://www.jsonline.com/news/milwaukee/97339544.html]Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel[/link], the $175,000 ‘Take Root Milwaukee’ program will include a telephone hotline and a website designed to provide confidential information for both sets of borrowers. A variety of local media outlets will be used to spread awareness of the program. Milwaukee was chosen for the program because of the success of the Milwaukee Foreclosure Partnership Initiative, which began in June 2009 with the input of financial institutions, nonprofits, real estate agents, government agencies and Marquette University. ‘When Freddie Mac learned about the partnership, it approached the city for this project as part of efforts to stabilize neighborhoods,’ said Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett at a news conference announcing the new effort.
