Frank Nothaft, previously chief economist for Freddie Mac, has joined CoreLogic as senior vice president and chief economist.

Nothaft, a prominent housing and mortgage market expert, had worked for Freddie Mac for more than 25 years.

In his new role with CoreLogic, he will lead the company's economics team, as well as its research and insights strategy, using CoreLogic's data and analytics resources.

Nothaft will also be responsible for expanding CoreLogic's economic policy unit and enhancing the company's research capabilities and tools.

Nothaft earned his degree in mathematics and computer science from New York University and holds a Ph.D. in economics from Columbia University. He frequently appears on radio and television programs and is regularly quoted in The Wall Street Journal, New York Times and industry trade publications.

CoreLogic's previous chief economist, Mark Fleming, was hired by First American Financial Solutions in November to serve as the company's senior vice president and chief economist.
