Atlanta-based Equity Loans has opened a new office in Rockville, Md. – its second office in the state.
The office will be led by Equity Loans' newest branch manager Carlos Martinez, who has more than 12 years of experience in the mortgage industry.
Prior to joining Equity Loans, Martinez was a branch manager and mortgage banker for New America Financial. Additionally, Martinez previously served as a branch manager and mortgage banker for Empire Financial Services and served as a loan officer for Apex Funding.
"The mortgage industry is switching gears, and the minority market is now one of the fastest growing segments in home purchases, so it is crucial for today's lenders to be multilingual and have a diverse staff to relate to these different cultures," remarks Martinez, who speaks three languages.
Martinez also notes that Rockville is a good market for the company because of its proximity to Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia, which he says have "varying home prices" and "reflect the diversity of today's borrower landscape."
