D.C.-Area Mortgage Vets Launch New Company

A new lender has opened up shop in Reston, Va. Potomac Mortgage Group LLC, founded by former George Mason Mortgage LLC President Ed Dean and 25-year industry veteran Fred Brooks, has a footprint that covers Virigina, Maryland and the District of Columbia.

The company provides Federal Housing Administration, Veterans Affairs, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, conforming and nonconforming loan products, according to a press statement. Dean's time at George Mason Mortgage, a division of Cardinal Bank, was one of rapid growth, as the company's annual closed-loan volume grew from $50 million 1993 to $1.3 billion in 2008.
